Adrian "Turbo" Trbovich started his musical education at the tender age of six. He first studied piano under his pastor's wife's guidance, then moving onto intense classical study until the age of 18. All the while music filled the house; his parents playing in a country/blues band and older brother Jesse learning the saxophone and later guitar. While not playing instruments, the family listened to their father's extensive record collection, ranging from bluegrass to jazz and everything in between. This early exposure to such a diverse range of music made an impact on him.
It wasn't until college that he picked up the guitar and banjo. Remembering sounds from his childhood, he now had the desire to pick them up. What followed was an intense study of Americana music. He studied guitar under ragtime/blues extraordinaire Ernie Hawkins and the banjo under old time guru Dwight Diller. Studying under these masters led him to find his own style.
Being a child of the 80's and a big hip hop fan, and hearing Americana music while growing up, he had the idea of incorporating the two styles and the Turbo Pro Project was born. What sounds like an unlikely pairing of musical styles to most was not to him. With his musical past it all makes perfect sense. He is endorsed by the Deering and Nechville banjo companies.
